Bipartisan Louisiana Parent Trigger to be signed into law TOMORROW!

TOMORROW, Gov. Bobby Jindal is expected to sign a bi-partisan, omnibus education reform bill that includes America’s fourth Parent Trigger law. This law would give Louisiana parents the historic right to transform their failing schools through community organizing. Parent Trigger passed through the state legislature with bipartisan support and is expected to go into effect January 1, 2013.

DTPU's Right to Petition

Just last week, parents went to court and filed a writ demanding that the District respect their right to petition and their children’s right to a quality education. These aren’t just the legal rights but they are outlined in the federal Constitution and the California Constitution and the foundation of our rights.

The 50% Debate

As we talked about earlier, parents will win in court because not only did the District deny the parents’ petitions based on illegal verification tactics and a fraudulent “rescission” campaign, but they also denied the parents, yet again, after agreeing that the parents were well over 50%.
