Check out LA Weekly's great piece on the brave parents of Desert Trails Parent Union. Simone Wilson spent weeks interviewing parents and learning about how their work developed and the strategy they decided on:

"...ask the moms who created the Desert Trails parent union, and they'll explain they don't even want a charter school. These San Bernardino County parents have taken great pains to remain independent. Signature-gathering guidelines posted in Diaz's living room stipulate: Identify yourself as a member of the Desert Trails parent union, not Parent Revolution. When the moms go door-to-door, they wear T-shirts with their own logo."
