Earlier today, two leaders from both sides of the political fence gave specific ‘shout-outs’ to Parent Revolution for our ongoing efforts organizing parents across the country to transform failing schools through a ‘kids-first’ agenda.
Former Governor Jeb Bush, a Republican, and John Podesta, former Clinton White House Chief-of-Staff and a Democrat, praised the work of Parent Revolution during their remarks at the ‘Excellence in Action’ National Summit on Education Reform, which is taking place in Washington, D.C.
Their specific mentions of Parent Revolution highlight what we have always said: Organizing parents to have a direct voice in decisions impacting their children’s education does not belong to one political party or another. The Parent Revolution movement cannot be defined in purely partisan terms or philosophies. Our focus is always on putting kids and parents first.
With today’s comments, Governor Bush and Mr. Podesta underscored the decreasing relevance and influence of those who continue to vehemently attack ‘Parent Trigger’ laws. These critics are on the wrong side of history. These opponents are engaged in a losing rear-guard action, trying to protect entrenched and vested interests that are failing to put kids-first.
We thank Mr. Podesta and Governor Bush for their generous comments toward Parent Revolution – and for framing education reform in a way that removes partisan bickering and puts the emphasis back where it belongs, with parents and children.
