Mary Najera bio
Mary was a founder of the Los Angeles Parents Union, along with two other parents, in September 2006. A mother of two, was born and raised in Boyle Heights, as the daughter of Mexican immigrants. She has two sons - Adrian, who’s 27, and Jerry, who’s 18. She credits a Green Dot charter school, Oscar de la Hoya Animo, with saving Jerry’s life, and has been a fighter for public education ever since. She won’t rest until every single child has the same opportunity Jerry did - the chance for a great education at a public school.
