Texas currently has, what is called, a “Parent Trigger” or “Parent Empowerment” law, found in Sec. 39.107. Reconstitution, Repurposing, Alternative Management, and Closure.
The law allows parents to organize and collectively demand for changes in their local poor performing school. However, there are a number of problems with the current law. We call on legislators to fix the law so that parents and communities can become empowered.
