Why Parent Power?

Over the last 20 years, there has been a dramatic increase in efforts to improve educational quality for low-income students and underserved communities. These efforts - such as expanding quality school options, improving teacher and principal quality, increasing system-wide accountability, and providing more wraparound services and support - have led to significant gains for students. Despite these important efforts, however, far too many students are still left without access to quality schools. A lack of quality education opportunities dramatically hinders the ability of these young people to achieve their dreams.

Parent Revolution believes that Parent Power is an important part of a healthy education ecosystem, but has been underutilized as a tool to help drive change for children. Parent Revolution sees organized, informed, and empowered families as a crucial constituency that should have a seat at the table and can significantly accelerate the rate of progress for students, schools and communities.
